With the outdoor areas near completion the Alzheimers South Canterbury Park Centre was officially opened today at the Timaru Botanical Gardens. The former Park Bowling Club headquarters has been completely refurbished under the guidance of Alzheimers SC president Diane Nutsford, and she along with Alzheimers SC patron Jan Hide, former All Black captain Reuben Thorne, and Rangitata MP Jo Goodhew, officiated at the ceremony. Invited guests included representatives from the Timaru District Council, funders, service clubs, construction firms. Alzheimers SC staff and Park Centre users.

Mackenzie Show – The Grand Parade
The 119th Mackenzie A & P Highland Show culminated with the Grand Parade of place-getters and champions from the livestock shows, and equestrian events, at the Fairlie Showgrounds today. The Mackenzie Highland Pipe Band led the procession in front of a huge crowd of spectators.

Southern Alps Country Music Awards – The Stars
Auditions carried on throughout Easter Sunday at the Southern Alps Country Music Awards, in the Caroline Bay Hall, Timaru. The stars came out to play, but just a select few will perform in the Grand Final Concert this evening. Congratulations to Andrew Nelson and his team who have staged another highly successful Southern Alps Country Music Awards event.
