The South Canterbury men’s team played Eastern Southland in their Ian Smith Trophy tournament game at Aorangi Park, Timaru, today. Cold, rainy and windy conditions didn’t help and Eastern Southland went 2-1 into the lead, before South Canterbury finally pressed hard for a 2-2 draw.

A large crowd attended the Jubilee Brass Concert at the Theatre Royal, Timaru, last evening. They were treated to brass band music of the highest order as the Timaru Municipal Alpine Energy Brass Band played in concert to celebrate their 150th Year Jubilee.
Limited edition Harlequins RFC jerseys were worn by senior players during their 20th Jubilee match against Old Boys yesterday. A certain amount of ceremony accompanied the handing out of the match  jerseys to the players and Harlequins club stalwart Murray Roberts had the honour. The Timaruonline camera had exclusive access  to the Harlequins’ changing room to witness the ceremony, the pre-match preparation and some post-match activity. The jerseys were auctioned off at last night’s celebrations.
Second-half of the Harlequins Senior A game against Old Boys played in celebration of the Harlequins Rugby Football Club’s 20th Jubilee. Harlequins led 59-17 at the final whistle.
