Scone Junior Rugby NZ TOUR

This afternoon the Scone Junior Rugby Union Club, from the Hunter Valley, NSW Australia, played a junior Harlequins team, as part of their New Zealand Tour.  Played on Ashbury Park, Timaru, Scone (pronounced like “zone”) were bigger and more skilled than their Harlequins opposition and were easy winners, but “Rugby was [also] the winner on the day.”

United Way NZ Grant Presentations

Today the Timaru Mayor, Damon Odey, presented five local community organisations with grants from United Way NZ,  a philanthropic funder. United Way NZ  chief executive, Don Oliver,  was also on hand and representatives from the Aoraki Multicultural Council (Aoraki Migrant Centre), the Citizens Advice Bureau, Timaru, Learning For You South Canterbury,  Life Education Mid & South Canterbury and Women’s Wellness South Canterbury.
